Technology Trend Model

The second area within Digital Explorer captures and tracks technology trends, the model is very similar to the industry trend model, whereby trends are mapped out against the maturity model from Emerging through to Late Adopters.   The difference for the technology trends is the groupings are applied across 2 dimensions; a general technology group (e.g. infrastructure, application, physical meets digital) and a Technology Theme, such as Workplace or Big data.

The technology group is a 1:1 relationship between the trend and the group; whereas the technology theme allows a technology trend to be mapped to one or more themes at different points within maturity model.   For example “end user assistants” maybe assigned to the “early adopters” stage within workplace, but could be “emerging” in terms of the theme of risk and security.
